An Industrial Scene

Plymouth’s East End economy has always been based on waves of industrial developments of quarrying, chemical and construction corporations. Cattedown’s ground morphology of limestone has led to extensive quarrying operations over the past two centuries, which as a result has removed more than 80% of the area’s limestones.

Nowadays the remaining sections of these sites have been replaced by new industrial establishments of giant and sculptural forms, that dominate the surrounding landscape and the region itself.
