The Plymouth Combined Court Centre embodies the Crown Court and the County Court, lying in the southern part of the city’s centre within an area zoned for civic
function, located opposite of the Civic Centre.
The designing qualities express a law authority status as well as civic function. The elegant design of the building comprise of grey slate cladding on each façade with a carefully proportioned curtail wall of slim, delicate, white frames. The strong horizontal bands of windows with aluminium framing were really innovative at that time, following the modernizing architectural agenda of 1960s and at the same time reinforcing the building’s significant character.
